A video I made about Foster Parrots in MA. These guys really are amazing and I just visited there for the first time and I was blown away. If you are ever looking for a good cause to donate to, please consider them.
Please note that I strongly believe parrots do NOT make suitable pets. They are essentially wild animals that belong in the wild. I am against breeding and the sale of birds for the pet trade. Unfortunately, just because they are born in captivity does not mean they are not wild animals- it just means they cannot survive in the wild. Breeders who say they are preserving species by breeding are not telling the truth. How many breeders release their birds into the wild? None. They are only ensuring that more and more parrots will be showing up in more and more rescues/shelters and sanctuaries across the country. These animals were not meant to be in our homes- they were meant to be flying free in the wild. If you would like a parrot as a pet, please do extensive research beforehand and ADOPT ONLY! There are WAY too many unwanted and perfectly wonderful parrots in need of good homes. Jasper, Oscar and Charlie were all adopted and they are amazing, lovable, extraordinary creatures. Yes, you can’t be …
Yes, you can’t be an activist part time. It either consumes you and all your time or you find a way to block things out for the sake of your sanity.
Thanks for posting; I’m sure it has opened, and will continue to open, some eyes that have been closed to this abuse.

i know. i don’t …
i know. i don’t understand how people can do it. it makes me sick all the time and i’ve gotten to the point where most of the time i have to push it out of my mind or i think it will make me crazy. it just makes me hate people so much.

I don’t know; maybe …
I don’t know; maybe it’s survival, maybe it’s just raw greed, but I am sickened by the treatment birds, bears, chimps, and other animals get in third world countries. There’s no empathy for their suffering: just catch ‘em, stuff ‘em in a tiny cage, sell the survivors, and walk off with the money and an apparently guilt-free conscience.
Damned savages.

duh. because he …
duh. because he feels safe in there. it doesn’t mean that it’s ok. birds are meant to fly miles a day and are social animals that never leave their mate’s side. so you have one budgie living all alone in a small cage and think it’s ok because he feels safe in his cage. if anything, he needs another budgie to keep him company. god, it depresses me to hear about so many birds living alone in cages.

Beautiful!
I …
Beautiful!
I actually own an Indian Ringneck parakeet, it only has a cage to sleep, eat and drink, for the day it stays out of it happilly, it sings a lot and is happy, it sometimes flies around the house and loves us. I find wrong if parots or any other kind of birds stay inside a cage without going out unless for their owners to play with them.
Our IRN shows its happiness.
God bless these people and birds.

have 2 Quakers, …
have 2 Quakers, noisy guys but responsibility worth it. Love to talk to them and receive air kisses, they mimic my moves and girl parrot recently took her claw while i was talking she placed it close to her beak and made a movement as if she was talking with beak and claw, at first I was offended than started laughing.

yeah, having a …
yeah, having a parrot is not like having a dog or cat. they need so much more care and attention. if you do decide to do it, get two because they really need to have company when you’re not around. that is SO important and there is nothing sadder than a parrot in a cage all day lonely and bored. in the wild, they never leave their mate and their flock. they are very social so whatever you do, please get two.

Such a sad video, …
Such a sad video, but it’s reality. I cannot believe that some people have no compassion for a living creature. It’s disgusting that people can live with what they’ve done to these poor birds.

Knowing how intelligent and emotional birds are, I can’t even begin to fathom the kind of horror these birds must of gone through. It must of been pure torture, both physically and emotionally.
